Just when we thought we were getting the hang of things, more and more hurdles arise that we must overcome. This week, the structures team was able to run a simulation with Open Rocket, however they did not hit target apogee. In order to push the incentive to find an appropriate model rocket we had to come up with an idea that would get us results as soon as possible. The result, a friendly competition between the team for those who can find the most apt model that can reach 10,000 feet apogee – more updates to come when we are successful. As of now, leads are swamped with work from Senior Design but are unfailingly still putting in work. Work days are pushed off for two weekends as many students are focusing on midterms. The challenge between balancing school work and rocket responsibilities is toough because both keep increasing. Although the team isn’t meeting as much in person because of other prior commitments and newfound responsibilities, everyone is making an effort to keep up to date and finishing their assignments for the week. We keep each other accountable and hard work is being put in no matter how busy. With a full plate, it is important that we all stay healthy and don’t get sick.
Thanks to our outreach team, outreach is going very well as we are participating in more volunteer events and getting our name out there. This coming weekend, the organization will be joining The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers who’s hosting Dia de Ciencias. This science day is geared towards high school students and their families who will learn about cool projects, hear stories about college experience, and see demonstrations put on by volunteers. Until next time, good luck on midterms!
