We have new updates we can't wait to share! Our teams advanced in their research and we attended multiple events.

These past couple weeks have been both difficult and exciting for our project teams. A great part of engineering is being persistent through trial. Let's take a deeper look into the work of our teams.
The year 2018 has come to an end. Our team has grown and learned so much in this past year. Let's take a moment to remember our favorite events.
The fall quarter is coming to an end. This quarter was an exciting one. We brought many of our new members to our lab in Flabob Airport. In the lab, we teach and refine our skills in rocketry. One of our objectives in aerospace systems is to teach our members through hands on experience. Today, we had all teams visit our lab for a group work day. Each team completed much work to wrap up the quarter.
As you all may know, we unfortunately did not participate in this year’s competition.
Here is our status update. We have a completed engine bay. The avionics bay has been tested on the ground successfully, meeting the performance requirements. Our structural integration for all the completed structural sections looks good. This includes aerodynamics for the lower half of the launch vehicle and all structural connections. This past week has been a whirlwind of tasks being thrown left and right. Among midterms, everybody is almost pushed to their limit with how much they need to get done. We are striving for the finish line and it is a team effort to finish strong.
Another week goes by and we are still as busy as ever!
In recent news, UCI was gifted $1 million thanks to Base 11. A huge congrats to them for establishing a rocketry program in the future. We cannot wait to see what they have to offer us in terms of advice and hopefully we get to work with their team. It is great seeing other rocketry programs excel as well. As everyone is getting into the swing of things this quarter, teams are starting to meet up individually. This point in the year is when we’re in the thick of the project and there’s no time to slack off. Competition is very soon and plans are being made for who will be going to New Mexico this summer, but before we get ahead of ourselves we must start testing. Leads are trying to get all their teams ready by May 6th so that we can perform our first test. Everyone is putting in work in order to meet deadlines. Stay tuned for what’s more to come! Welcome back!
Spring quarter means new responsibilities. Deadlines are quickly creeping up and every team is extremely busy. Everyone is putting in extra hours on the weekends to make our competition deadline. We’re also in the middle of position transitions, so team leads are working double time to make sure everything is in order. It’s finally week 10 and that means rocket responsibilities must be put on the back burner until after finals. General meetings and work days will resume first thing during Spring quarter.
Good news is that we elected our new board for the upcoming year. Our candidates worked hard through the interview process and made a good impression on the organization. Congratulations to everyone who was elected! |
